oughest win in life: Murshedy

Successful candidates of Sammilita Oikya Parishad, including president Kazi Salahuddin and senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, pose for a photograph after the BFF election at the BFF House on Monday.
Abdus Salam Murshedy expressed his gratitude to the voters after retaining the post of the senior vice president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Monday.

The former national player vowed to take football to district and sub-districts as he almost broke into tears while talking to the media after his name was announced as the winner.

“I’m very happy. I think this election was the toughest one among all previous elections I have ever contested. I thank Allah and also thank those delegates who kept faith on me. I want to tell them that we all together will bring football to districts and to upazilas. And we will also bring back the glory days of football. It’s my biggest challenge,” said Salam Murshedy.

Tabith M Awal was a delighted man after being elected one of the four vice presidents. He was placed second with 74 votes, just two less than Kazi Nabil Ahmed.

“No words can describe how I’m feeling right now. I was the youngest candidate in the election and I have proved my potential through this election. My aim was to become an organiser. Now I’m an official of BFF. I want to organise as much tournaments as possible outside Dhaka,” he said.

“I congratulate Kazi Nabil on becoming vice president. I also thank all those who participated in the election,” Tabith added.

Asked about the pledge to resign if he fails to start district football, he said, “As I have said, I will resign if we fail to start district football within 10 months.”

Another elected vice president Arif Khan Joy said that he would not forget his pre-election promises.

“As I promised before, I will try my best and give everything in me to develop the country’s football. I think I can do this with the help of everyone. I am committed to starting football at the district level and then at divisions,” he added.
